Hearts of Steel was established by family and friends of Ian Weeks to raise funds for his Heart transplant and medical services. Hearts of Steel was also to be used as a platform to reach out to the community to increase awareness about heart disease, the importance organ donation and Sudden Arrhythmia Deaths. Ian's goal for Hearts of Steel is to reach beyond the financial help he needs for his transplant but to use Hearts of Steel as a vessel of transplant information from the patients perspective, offer support to those candidates awaiting transplant and their families, raise funds to get AED's ( Automated External Defibrillators) in communtity locations where high activity and/or recreation is involved and to provide support services of gifts or contributions for families of those affected with Sudden Death Arrhythmias, other terminal heart conditions and rare cancers.
